CONSISTENCY?

In 1988 an inebriate Bruce Kimball, Olympic diver and himself a victim of a drunk driver, ran his car into a crowd of young people, of whom two were killed, five injured. For this crime he was sentenced to 17 years in prison, where he served five and was forbidden ever to drive again.

More recently and also in Florida, an inebriate Donte’ Stallworth, professional football player, ran his car into one person, whom he killed. For this crime he was sentenced to 30 days in jail, 2 years of house arrest, which posits a house sufficiently large not to interfere with playing football, and 8 years of probation.

There seems to be erratic functioning of Justice’s scales, don’t you think, or is the problem with Florida? That, after all, is where Judge George Greer and appeals judges presided over the murder of defenseless Terri Schindler. Anyone that considers death by dehydration and starvation as a “mercy” killing should read the medical consequences of that sentence.
