M.L.KING JR. AND CHARLES CARROLL ON DEMOCRACY

From the Birmingham, Alabama Jail, Rev. King wrote that the Declaration and Constitution together form the "great well of democracy," which expresses "the most sacred values in our Judaeo-Christian heritage."

Charles Carroll, the only Catholic signer of the Declaration, said "Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion ... are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments."

Before anyone tells you what is the state of the Union, look at it, especially at its morality and the extent to which we retain a free government, yourselves and spend a minute or two contemplating the truth of what these two men said.

Then, begin to do something about it.
