Perhaps misguided Jenkins saw himself as loving the enemy, or possibly he, himself, is one of them, but what he did was to attack the faith he claims to profess. At Notre Dame it was a sorry day for Catholicism and all others that believe in God, which belief necessitates embracing the sanctity of life. Let us hope and pray that the force and wisdom of Jenkins' bishop are the ones to prevail.
