On the contrary, in toil and drudgery, night and day we worked, so as not to burden any of you. ... when we were with you we instructed you that if anyone was unwilling to work, neither should that one eat." This is a representative list of a multitude of quite excellent people, held in some very large quarters to be saints, all linking the notions of work and prayer as necessary to leading a proper life. It is quite dissimilar to the decrees of today's foundering fathers, who proscribe prayer and encourage being fed by the sweat of others' brows. Wonder why our country is disintegrating?
